Ushuaia!!!!

33000 kilometers on the road, 16 countries, lots of pictures and an adventure of a life time! I have made it to Ushuaia, drove from the most northern driveable town to the most southern driveable town on the continent in 80 days!
I had to take a very from Punta Arenas to Povenir.

the first 100 kilometers where off road. Great off road and the wind was in my back.

The proof that I made it!

back in Chile

My hotel in El Calafate, it was very nice, great view over the lake and the mountains.

The glacier, stunning as they always are! It is difficult to imagine the size. it is huge. I saw some blocks falling.

The rest of the day was not that special, lots of nothing. The crossing back to Chile was simple and took about half an hour. I am now in Punta Arenas, tomorrow morning I take the ferry to Tiera del fuego. It is great driving here, I am on one hand happy to reach Ushuaia, on the other hand, it does mean that the trip is coming to an end, and I don't really like that. But first let's get to the other side of this water.

Ruta 40

Today was all about the ruta 40, a mix of dirt, asphalt and constructions. It is a love/hate relation. When you are on the dirt and it gets bad, you really want some smooth road. But when you are on the asphalt, it is boring and you want the dirt back. The only thing I don't care for is the constructions. I also got a taste of the wind down here. They are strong!!

A different kind of llama here. Bigger and a nice color
My first serious water crossing, deep and rocky and it filled up one of my boots. But it was fun.
Icebergs! I am in El Calafate today, tomorrow morning I visit the glacier and after that I want to try to make it to Punta Arenas. The end of the road is near.

Caretera Austral, part 2

My hostal in La Juncta, a very nice little place. It was cold at night, but I had the best bed with a hugh blanket. Slept like a baby
The road was about 50/50 asphalt dirt. Very nice driving again, with beautifull weather
They made this road just for the picture, I am sure!
Strange clouds here, I suspect to be followed by alliens
Back in Argentina, the view of Chile
At first I thought it was a bridge, but it is snow just under the rim. This road was 90 kilometer from the border to the town of Perito Moreno, where I spent the night. Tomorrow I ride to El Calafate, where I will visit a glacier

carretera Austral, part 1

The morning started of dry, and it stayed dry!
small thing of the day, a 250ml coke bottle. It seems like they have small things in Chile, let's see what I can find tomorrow
Just amazing views in the morning.

my four hour ferry ride awaits
two spanish riders are also doing the same route, I will be meeting up with them along the route
 One of the spanish riders
It is really stunning here, the road is ok for a dirt road, the views are amazing and I am really enjoying myself. Very happy with the new tires, the weather is great, sunny but not to warm, the beast is doing very well and I also feel good. More of this tomorrow
