The machine!
The Story
About two years ago I realized that it wouldn't be long before my midlife crisis would start. And as i like to plan, I decided to plan the crisis as well, better be prepared. As I already owned a motorbike, and co-own a motorboat and a sailboat, buying toys wouldn't do the trick. So a road trip was in place. Watching the long way round and long way down, it was clear I couldn't copy paste those two trips. The other big drive is the Pan American Higway. Having already travelled to Anchorage, the Panama Canal and Ushuaia by boat, this looked very appealing. I started to look on the web and found out that Ride On Motortours wass planning this drive around the same time I wanted to do it. So I signed up and sat down and relaxed. For a bit, that is. I soon realized after a trip on the 1200GS that my fuel tank was a bit small and I decided that the world would stop revolving if I didn't get a GSA (that is a simular bike to the 1200gs, but with a bigger tank). Luckely I found one with not many kilometers on it and in a good shape for an ok price (Thanks Aaron)

 The workplace
Next step was to get time off work to do the trip. I normally work on a 3 on/ 3 off contract, but for the trip I need 4 motnhs off. This took only one mail to the office and it was arranged (thanks Michelle). All done and dusted. Or not... Maybe because of the crisis or because of the length of the trip, I don't know, but Ride On motortours couldn't find enough people to make the trip happen. So that was a problem. But, as I mentioned earlier, I like to plan, I took the challange and started arranging it by myself, with some help of ride on, as they did feel sorry for me.
